Racing Days

Doing some form of racing day can be a fun activity to do in the day time of a stag do

It can be anything from Kart Racing, Motor Racing, Rally driving, Quad Biking, JCB Racing, Hovercraft Racing, White Water Raft Races etc, etc Some of the guys will be more competitive than others, but make sure everyone is involved. For example run sweepstakes on the race winners, or the person who will get the fastest time. It will set up some banter later on in the evening.

Most racing companies are very organised, and used to coping with large groups. With any group of lads between 8 and 30 people you should have no problem at all. Obviously check websites and make a few phone calls, but as long as you do that in plenty of time you'll find somewhere that will be able to accommodate you.

Kart Racing often takes the format of maybe 10 races, with each guy taking part in perhaps 3 of them. There will be a set number of laps, and a microchip in the kart itself will automatically feed times and results back to the scoreboard. Most companies will have at least 3 or 4 staff members present to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Motor Racing is a rather broad desciption of racing, but you'll find various performance cars are available. Due to health and safety considerations, and insurances of vehicles, and bigger sites needed, you find this is a more expensive form of racing, and perhaps more suitable to the slightly smaller group. You will find that you will only get one or two goes with motor racing

Rally Driving. Most of the description of Moter Racing also applies to Rally Driving. It will be more expensive, and it does lend itself better to smaller groups

Quad Biking can take a few forms. It can be more leisurely around a trail, but it can also be racing around a track in a similar way to Kart racing. UnlikeKart Racing (which is available both inside and outside), Quad Bike racing is solely an outdoor activity

JCB Racing is something if you want to do something completely different and slighty less conventional. Yes, you guessed it, it is quite expensive. It's a great one if your group is full of complete petrol-heads, who just love driving full stop, and are always keen to learn to drive something new.

HoverCraft Racing. Absolutely loads of fun. Make sure your group hasnt got a large proportion of sourpusses who dont like to get their feet wet. Obviously it is probably more appropriate for summer stag dos, when the weather isnt making your brain say "stay away from the water at all costs". Hovercraft racing is a great day out with the right people and weater. It will be something that probably 99% of the stagdo party have never ever tried before, which in itself makes a memorable day out.

White Water Rafting. Usually split straight up into 2 teams. It can involve construction of the raft as well. The company will give you the materials and you contruct a raft from them in the best way possible. Again, summer is a better one for this due to the water element, and I have done a few of these where about have the group have just gone to the pub instead, so stick to the summer, and make sure you dont have too many older guys, as they are often a little less interested in this type of racing.

Enjoy your racing day out. Plan in advance and check out a few companies before deciding.
